Hey everyone.

I wanted to FINALLY post an update about what’s going on with me. I discovered this fall after increasing neurological problems (which doctors thought was MS for a while), that I have very Late Stage Lyme Disease. Yep. We are pretty sure I’ve had it for 11 (ELEVEN!) years.

Lyme explains A LOT that has happened to me over the years. Now I have serious neurological problems, arthritis everywhere, and heart problems that seem to be a combination of my dysautonimia as well as Lyme carditis.

I’ve started a Lyme Vlog. Videos are easier right now since I’m so sick. I will be making blog post about my supplements (which are numerous), and I’ll go into symptoms too.

For now, here’s a link to my Lyme Vlog. Sublymation’s Lyme Vlog

(I picked the name “sublymation” since this whole experience is really causing a rapid transition in both mind and body.)

Hope everyone is having a nice December.

I'm starting a project, sort of an art project, where I will go to cemeteries all over as opportunities arise, and take pictures of graves.

My work duties may be changing in a big way soon….maybe (in a good way)….but that’s all I’m really going to say about that because that is not the major point of my post, and not yet reality.

I want to mention my new project I am starting.

With all my genealogy research I see multitudes of people, people that are the reason I am here today, all reduced to a name on a list. Sure, some of them are more well known and have stories about their lives, but so many are just lost. Sometimes there isn’t anything but a first name. And sometimes there isn’t even that. All lost.

I’m starting a project, sort of an art project, where I will go to cemeteries all over as opportunities arise, and take pictures of graves. I want to create a photo blog type website with pictures of graves, and will do a little research on each person to go with the picture of their grave.

This is my way of not only coping with the knowledge of death, but also recognizing those who have been long forgotten and allowing them to be seen and remembered again…even if only in name and where their body lies.

I just purchased my URL, and am in to process of putting all the guts of it together.

I think this is a beautiful project, and for the time being I want to see it out. I’m know that this is a coping mechanism for death, but it is also a way to express my emotions in an artistic way. This gives me an artistic, emotional outlet.

Even if I’m lucky enough to take advantage of technologies allowing me to live far beyond my evolutionary programmed life span, I will most certainly see my parents and many loved ones die. A harsh reality of life. A reality that affects every single person on Earth.

My Mother-In-Law that I love dearly has less than a year at best. Maybe this is also a way to help me come to terms with her forthcoming death as well.

So, for at least a little while, I am going to indulge in this strange fascination with visiting cemeteries and seeing all the markers for those that are no longer. Human beings that loved their life as much as me. Humans that loved other humans. Humans that did not want to die….but did.

This is what my genealogy research has sparked within me, and I must follow this urge.

I’ll post the site once I get it functional.

May you all live long, and enjoy all that life has to offer.

After all, we are the lucky ones that get to die, for only those born can die. Think of all the multitudes of people that were never even born, and thus never lived to have the privilege of dying. (Yes, this is a Dawkins paraphrase). :-p

Ok, bloggie friends. I’ve been not only discovering neat genealogy things, but I am STILL doing major organizing and de-cluttering in many areas of my life . I needed to take a little sabbatical, and allow my interest in other things to flourish for a little while. I enjoy indulging in all sorts of research topics. We all have our favorite indulgences, and mine just happens to be information binging. :-p Oh, the topics I will compulsively research…I love the internet age.

I also having some neat and exciting things going on at work too, so that’s been capturing my attention as well.

Anywho…I’m still here, I just have some interesting things in my life things going on. I’ve had a perspective refresher, and my mind is all over the place right now. So, hang on for the ride…I have no idea what adventures await! :-p

But, I don’t want to leave y’all completely in the dark. I want to report on some of my interesting genealogy findings. I’m by no means done with my genealogy research, but I’ve compiled a fairly large family tree with some fascinating people in the branches.

Let’s start with some direct connections, then I will move on to some interesting cousins.

Family that came over on the Mayflower!

My 11th Great-Grandfather:
William Bradford (March 19, 1590 – May 9, 1657) was an English leader of the settlers of the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts, and was elected thirty times to be the Governor after John Carver died. His journal (1620–1647) was published as “Of Plymouth Plantation” (I should read this). Bradford is credited as the first civil authority to designate what popular American culture now views as Thanksgiving in the United States.

My 10th Great-Grandfather:
Edward Doty (May 14, 1598 – August 23, 1655) was a Mayflower passenger, a signer of the Mayflower Compact, and a permanent settler of Plymouth Colony.Doty was one of two indentured servants obligated to Stephen Hopkins, and as such accompanied Hopkins and his family aboard the Mayflower. The first duel in Plymouth Colony occurred June 18, 1621, when Doty and Edward Leister fought with swords and daggers until one was wounded in the hand and the other in the thigh. They were to be punished by having their ankles tied to their necks for twenty-four hours without food or drink. Within an hour they were begging to be released, which the governor allowed upon their promise to behave.

Royalty and Nobility

The Family of Montgomery
My Montgomery line goes all the way down to my 3rd Great-Grandmother, and all the way back to the ~900s. My 8th Great-Grandfather, William Montgomery, was the first to come from Scotland to America. Before him come 600 years of nobility in Scotland eventually leading back to France. There are many interesting family members I am still learning about in this large tree branch. My 27th Great-Grandmother, Lafracoth Munster Ua Briain, was an Irish princess that married into my Montgomery line. I fully intend in reading this book: A Genealogical History of the Family of Montgomery (How Neat!!)

My 28th Great-Grandfather:
King Muirchertach Ua Briain was a son of Toirdelbach Ua Briain, a previous Dalcassian king of Ireland. In 1086 his father died and the province of Munster from which he had claimed kingship of Ireland had been split between his three sons: Tadc, Muirchertach and Diarmait. Tadc died soon after, and Muirchertach banished Diarmait from Munster, claiming its kingship for himself.

************************Cousins***************************

Inventors:

My 2nd Cousin 7 Generations Back:
Samuel Colt – founder of Colt’s Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company (now known as Colt’s Manufacturing Company), and is widely credited with popularizing the revolver.

My 4nd Cousin 8 Generations Back:
Charles Goodyear was the first to vulcanize rubber, a process which he discovered in 1839 and patented on June 15, 1844.

Presidents:

My 6th Cousin 6 Generations Back:
Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865.

My 8th Cousin 4 Generations Back:
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was the 32nd President of the United States and a central figure in world events during the mid-20th century, leading the United States during a time of worldwide economic crisis and world war. The only American president elected to more than two terms.

My 9th/10th Cousins 2/1 Generations Back:
George H. W. Bush & George W. Bush, the 41st and 43rd Presidents of the United States.

*****

I have Grandfathers that fought on both sides of the Civil War.

I have Grandfathers that fought in the War of 1812.

I have Grandfathers that fought in the Revolutionary War.

*****

I have a LOT of German ancestry. A lot. Followed by a good deal of English ancestry with the rest predominately Scottish with a touch of Irish.

*****

My 10th Great-Grandmother, Mary Lacye, was tried as a witch and drowned during her trial (I suppose she was innocent then). Here is the story: The Witches of Shropshire.

————————————————————————————

I want to read more about the lives of many of these people. One thing that saddens me about doing genealogy is that I have a huge tree of names, and each name represents a human life that I will never really know much if anything about. All these wonderful life experiences reduced to a name, a list of family members, maybe a few immigration/war records, and a grave marker somewhere.

I’m in the revolution against our faulty evolution…..one day we will prevail over death!

Hola Every0ne,

I have disappeared into a genealogy black hole here recently, and I am (obviously) have taken a bit of a break from writing. I’m finding out so many cool things about my and QB’s families. Once my indulgence subsides, I fully plan on returning to regular posting habits. Sometimes it’s just a good idea to let your interests wander.

Once I finally start to crawl out of my cave, I will post my more interesting findings. So far I have amassed quite an interesting history.

I hope everyone has been doing super excellent so far in 2011!

If you are interested in learning about your genealogy, I highly recommend Ancestry.com. The collection of data and under interface are wonderful.

Live long and prosper! :-p

So my Grandmother (The Grand K), has been into genealogy for a long time.

So my Grandmother (The Grand K), has been into genealogy for a long time. I have memories as a kid of her digging around looking for branches of our family tree. I always assumed that one day the itch would bite me too, and I would join her in her research and eventually take the torch.

Well, the genealogy itch to start my own learning and digging is now here.

I’ve considered joining Ancestry.com for a while since that is where she has consolidated all her info, and now she is getting me a membership! I’m so excited. I’ve always enjoyed hearing her talk about where my ancestors are from and important people in history I am related too.

My 14th Great-Grandfather came over to the USA on the Mayflower! Yes, not many families came over on that boat, and many died in the journey, but my Grandfather made it. I’m not going to say his name, but it is very neat knowing family history like that.

Yes, I could be a Daughter of the American Revolution too. I haven’t joined, but some neighbors of mine are trying to convince me. They say the organization needs new blood….I can’t say I disagree with that! Ha.

I now want to follow my family lines over seas more, as well as start a genealogy excavation for QB. To his knowledge, no one in his family has been interested in genealogy so there is a lot of work needed on his family tree.

The internet now allows us to find things in minutes that once took months. Records from all over the world are consolidated, so I can look for ancestors and distant family lines. “The Grand K” started her digging way before the internet, and for that she deserves many kudos. She has really kept with the times though and had a laptop with internet access and a digital camera when such things first became available, and yes she’s even on Facebook! LOL. The Grand K is one hip grandmother.

Studying genealogy also gives me insight to my genetics, and I eventually want to take a genealogical genetics test. Hopefully by the time I get around to that, sequencing one’s DNA will be much more affordable and I can learn about all my genetic programming! I want to especially learn the weakness of my genes, and potential for diseases and illnesses. Both QB and I did get some crappy health genes (in very different areas though…makes things exciting…yeah, that’s what we tell ourselves…lol), so ideally we would both love to learn as much as possible about our genetics. If I were really rich that’s one thing I would spend my money on -DNA testing. LOL….forget the mansion, forget the sports car, I want my DNA sequenced! Knowledge is power.

I’m intrigued and fascinated to learn more about where the bits an pieces of my DNA came from that as a whole make up everything that is me.

Ok, during this de-cluttering organizing phase I am going thought right now, I am going to temporarily break from my usual blog topics and write on varying topics that pique my interests.

Today I saw a post from Ag called “Things I wish I knew at 18…”. I’m going to write a similar post. Since I am going through a re-discovery of self and life right now, I’m going to focus this on me@18 versus 18 year old’s in general. It’s been 10 years since I was 18, 10 years since I graduated high-school, and 10 years of ups and downs leading me to the life I have now.

Looking back on the last 10 years of my life, what would I tell the 18 year old me if I could talk to her right now?

1: Goals and dreams will change. People in your life will change. In fact, change will describe much of the next 10 years of your life. Your black will become white accompanied by many shades of gray, and your whole perspective on life will change – several times over. But through this all, you will always be you, and life will always be worth living simply for the fact that tomorrow is another opportunity to learn, live, love, and embrace this experience of life. Accept that change will happen, whether you are ready or not, and know that you will persevere. You will persevere.

2: Respect your body. You are currently bodily naive. Food naive. Exercise naive. You have a lot to learn. Don’t wait to learn about how to take care of your body and mind until after neglect and mindlessness. You do persevere in this area, too, but you can avoid learning some lessons the hard way.

3: Stress. You know you are a stressed young girl. You always have been. Well, learn to gain control over this soon because much of the abuse your body and mind go through over the next 10 years area directly tied to stress of your making. Your mind has control over your perception of the world and events, learn to control it rather than letting it control you. This is probably the single most important thing you need to know!

4: Challenge the authority of scholarly intelligence. You are far more intelligent than you realize. You slowly learn that intelligence is not signified by simply obtaining Ph.D’s, MDs or other forms of high education. Question those you hold in the highest respect the most!

5: Never lose yourself completely in one person. This is dangerous because when that person is no longer in your life, you lose a part of yourself forever.

6: Learn what grasping feels like. Learn to challenge it and dig down to what you are really reaching for. And when that scares the hell out of you, understand that it is better to deal now rather than later. Problems you delay facing only become more difficult.

7: You enjoy and indulge in formal education. There is nothing wrong with this. But, start learning about what life is like post-college before it arrives. There is a whole new world of responsibilities you can’t put off and cram for last minute, and consequences are more than a bad grade. Learn how to manage money in the short term and long term. Learn to make informed decisions when contracts are involved. And learn to save. Once again, some problems don’t have to be learned the hard way.

8: Identity. You seemingly struggle with this at several points, but if you just look a little deeper you will see that you never go anywhere. You are only learning more. Changing your mind is ok. In the face of new data, the results can and do change. Don’t fear “being wrong”, but rather thoroughly question and once again be open to change, both within yourself and in the world around you.

9: Dogs. Stick to dogs. Other pets can be interesting, exciting, and different. But no other animal companion can fill your heart like a dog even though you may very stubbornly try. Yes, you like to pet your friends’ cats, but cats are not for you. Birds are great, and you do finally get your chickens, but birds don’t cuddle like dogs. Accept no substitutes and wait for the right dogs to enter your life. Your heart will explode with love when they do!

10: Regrets. While you love where you end up in 10 years, and wouldn’t change a thing, regrets are natural. The things you think you will regret are not the things you actually regret after some time has passed. What are some regrets after 10 years? Not making more friends. Not keeping up with your cello playing. Not taking your interest in physics and astronomy more seriously, even though your job does end up being in the space industry. And not talking more to your sister. There are some things, some big things, that you want to regret, but without such events you would not be who you are today. As you so naively believe now, your life does have a way of working everything out in the end. Just hope the next 10 years do the same.

11: You see things. Know this. Don’t doubt this. You see the world in a way many don’t. Try not to let this isolate you, but rather seek out others like yourself. Know that you will find a man (who does marry you) that sees the world as you do, and together you will discover the meaning of life – the meaning of your lives. Embrace this journey, trust the course, know it is not always easy, and know true peace is born of this connection.

12: Say what you feel, and stand up for your personal truths. Be your own, but fair and just, critic. And never try to please the masses, but defer -and not fear- to the masses of individuals inside you that make the whole of your existence.

13: Start trying to live forever now! There is nothingness in death. Accept this reality sooner than later, learn to let go of the fairytale you so desperately want to believe in right now. All great minds are lost to this great nothing. Be a part of the revolution against death! For all the battles worth fighting, this is the one that can win the war! Yes, we are at war with the faults of our evolution. Modern medicine has made great advances, but the war is not over until we conquer the final stage: Death.

I’m on a major organizing and de-cluttering spree. It started with filing cabinets, and it’s slowly infecting all other areas. Today, I attacked my email. I think I labeled and organized a few thousand emails…..which was probably n0t much worse than my mail situation the the cabin before started attacking that last week. I am beginning to wonder just when it will end! Ha.

I still see so much more to do, and QB is watching in amazement and satisfaction since I’m not really asking much of him. Lol. He’s the innocent bystander.

The past three days were also wonderful Yoga days. The few days off were much needed for some of my joints (particular my hip joints). But now I’m doing great, and still seem to be making leaps with my flexibility. I think in a few weeks I will go to a few Yoga classes taught by different people to see if I can learn some new things as well as get some critique on my style.

My food the past three days has been about par for my course. I enjoy my wonderful juice as I am driving to work, I have my adored salad with uber healthy olive oil, my strange mexican-ish stew, a little cereal as a snack, and my hemp smoothie after work.

I didn’t put organizing and de-cluttering down on my New Year’s resolutions, but I”m thinking I should retroactively claim it since making such crazy progress. BUT, I am really relieving some stress by doing that so I suppose it all plays into my master plan. :-)

Anywho, just an update before my final day. Then I get to have a nice long break to do more organizing, de-cluttering, cleaning, and any other similar fun things! Oh my!

As a final thought before bed, here are a couple of gratitude’s:

1:I’m grateful for a warm snuggley bed that I share with my husband and two little doggy babies.

2: I’m grateful for my one of a kind pottery ware made by my father. I love unique dishes, and it doesn’t get any more unique than this.

I have started a full on war with the clutter in our cabin. We both tend to be the type to save stuff -just in case- we need it one day. Not always a good thing.

I have started a full on war with the clutter in our cabin. We both tend to be the type to save stuff -just in case- we need it one day. Not always a good thing. And then we both have the habit of not storing our mail properly which results in boxes and boxes of opened mail from years ago that need to be sorted. I also have the habit of saving clothes from eons ago, even if they are tattered. Maybe I can use the fabric even if I know I won’t wear it anymore. Do you see how slippery this slope can get? Oh my yes….

So, this past break I started by attacking the boxes of unsorted mail. I hauled out our filing cabinets and got to work. Hours and hours and days later, our mail is pretty much all sorted out. QB can hardly believe it, and is quite interested to see what the cabin looks like once I’m done with everything. Frankly, I’m surprised at the tenacity of my filing this break.

It’s hard to believe we’ve only just pasted the 2 week point in 2011. I’ve been really focusing on getting things in gear. Yeah, I’ve been a little slack on posting, but I’m making sure I prioritize some over-hauling of the status quo before I resume my usual and newly committed routines.

My Yoga practice has been about every other day this past week. I really was pushing myself just from sheer exciting and enjoyment since I started in December, so I figured I needed to ease up for a week. I am making big progress, but I don’t want to push my body too hard…kind of defeats the purpose. I’m not in some yoga asana (pose) race or anything.

Tonight I’m getting back to daily Yoga, and I’m trying not to get *too* immersed in the de-cluttering while I’m working. With 12hr work days, there is little time in between to sleep, eat/make food, do yoga, and spend time with QB. When I get really psyched about something it’s *really* hard for me to pull away…funny that I am so excited about….filing…still. Eh, only a couple of years behind. It just feels soooo good to have everything neatly put away in places it can easily be found/accessed again. :-)

So, how is your 2011 coming along? I’m still doing good on my resolutions with the exception of the confrontation one. Ha. Mainly because there is one person I need to confront. I haven’t really had any other confrontation opportunities outside of QB, so this will be a slower developing resolution.

Here are some gratitude’s for today!

1: I’m grateful KALE. Wegmans has had inconsistent kale supplies lately, so my juice didn’t happen for a few days. I put in a request for them to call my when they got me favorite bagged kale in (Isn’t that nice?!- their customer service is always top notch). They surprisingly called me the next day, and I stocked up on 3 large bags. I enjoyed my wonderful juice on the way to work early this morning, and love looking in my fridge and seeing tons of kale and organic carrots! OMG SO HEALTHY LUTEIN YUM! :-)

2: I’m grateful for filing cabinets, files, and folders. While we are well into the technology age, there is still a need for analogue file keeping. I am glad I have the resources available to me so I can keep records in an easily manageable accessible way.

3: I’m grateful for perspective. Perceptive on life that I have and do not have yet. I’m going through a period of personal growth, and I’m seeing many things differently. I’m lucky to have a wonderful husband to help me on my journey as well as a cool therapist. Good connections with people are priceless.

4: I’m grateful for other bloggie friends! I keep up with all the CR and CR related blogs that I know of, and love reading about other CR’ers. I also keep up with a few vegan blogs, and a blog I call “perspective” because of it’s sobering issues. I’m also on the lookout for some good yoga blogs. I think the blogging world is wonderful, and has allowed me to connect with people in a very modern way! If you have a CR blog I don’t have listed on my CR blogs list to the right, please tell me! And if you have any Yoga blog recommendations, please send them my way!

And just for FUN, here is a picture of our cabin LAST YEAR after one of our big blizzards! WOW! While there was definitely a fun component to that experience, I’m glad we haven’t had a repeat this year….at least so far! LOL. As long as it happens on my break, I’m ok with it.

My Food Plan for January 14, 2011.

I seem to be hungrier lately. I’ve been eating closer to 1500 calories the past few days/week. Unless I change my supper plan, today will be close to that too. All my de-stress efforts have led me to not be super strict on low cals recently. I’m going to slowly work my way back down to my preferred 1200-1400, but currently I have been focusing energy on other things that I have really neglected. Cleaning, organizing, yoga, attitude shifts, greater personal responsibility...this list seems to always be expanding.

I know if I push myself too hard and too fast in all these areas now while expecting perfect CR some things will fall though the crack. But healthy eating and moderate calories are easy enough while I am in the beginning of my retooling phase.

I highly recommend pre-spring-cleaning cleaning to help keep you perked up during these dark winter months. I usually don’t get this burst of energy until my spring-cleaning starts, but I got an early start this year and I’m enjoying it thoroughly!

And if you haven’t heard me say it a million times so far, if you are looking for a good at home (or wherever) physical exercise program please look into yoga. It’s highly customizable to fit your needs, and it really helps both body AND mind. Seriously. Try it. I’m loving it!

After living here for well over a year, there were still some boxes hanging out and stuff we hadn’t gone through. I’ve moved around a lot in the last 7 years, and after a while the unpacking just wasn’t very exciting anymore!

So, expect posts to pick back up in freque3ncy as I transition back to day shift tomorrow. :-)

But…right now…the filing cabinet is still calling my name! LOL!

:-p

Hope everyone is well so far in 2011! I’ll write more later this evening! Toodles!

I started my day with Yoga. What a great way to start a day.

My smoothie was slowly savored shortly after, and my night at work has been non-memorable -which is a good thing. Every now and then chaos happens, and every now and then that chaos is very interesting, but I don’t sit around and hope for interesting chaotic days/nights.

There’s snow on the ground here. Very lovely even though it’s just a thin blanket. I’m looking forward to the morning drive home. The sun rising with a snow covered gorgeous landscape.

I’m not much for words right now. I just am. I’m here. And I am relaxing in my final hour of work.

I plan to start my final two days of work like I did today. Yoga. Breathe. Smoothie. Breathe. Blog writing, blog reading. Breathe. Nice, relaxing, lovely “morning” before I have to compile my food and work stuffs.

As I mentioned yesterday, I wrote a page for the Humans and NonHumans in My Life. Always subject to changes, but that readers have a reference.

Here are some simple Gratitude’s:

1: A Deep Breath. Slowly and consciously taken. What a great feeling!

2: A Clear Starry Sky. The stars are very bright on a clear winter night at the cabin. I’ve always had an interest in being an amateur astronomer. Ever since I was 12. Maybe one day I’ll get a decent telescope!

3: Basic Security. There are so many basic securities I have just by living in the US. So many others aren’t as fortunate for something many of us don’t even fully comprehend.
