Yes. I see no flying car in the driveway. I thought “the future” was supposed to be here. I remember in elementary school being told by now we would no loner be relying on oil! Wha? Yeah…that ain’t happening any time soon! Other than my disappointment in not having a flying car yet, I had a wonderful ringing in of the New Year!
I worked my usual 12hr shift, and I went back to work today at 7am (up at 5am). But I made sure to have some fun. However, before the fun, I took time when I got home to do my yoga. It’s awesome to see progress in flexibility ever day. My mood and “degree of relaxation” are both MUCH IMPROVED after my session…which have evolved to about 45mins long. It’s sometimes hard to pull away from the mat!
Well. So should I start into my psychic predictions for 2011? This should be fun, especially since I don’t believe in psychics (or god, or the supernatural…etc). I’m just going to put the top three things to come to mind….LOL.
My Super-Psychic Non-Psychic Predictions for MMXI:
1: We (Humans), will find some evidence of live evidence of life somewhere other than Earth. Be it traces of bacteria, extraterritorial space craft, cave people on Mars, or whatever. :-p
2: The Singularity will be nearer. :-p Yeah, try to prove that one wrong!
3: A major break through will be made in life extension/ anti-aging science. Hey, I can hope right? :-)
Now with that out of the way, let’s talk about some of my goals for MMXI (also known as resolutions). Last year’s resolution was to join Alcor. Not only was that the first time I’ve made a resolution, but it’s my first failed resolution. Well, at least we now know I’m 100% human. Ha. Yes, life really took some unexpected turns with my health which I am still addressing (and will have to address my whole life).
Between getting diagnosed with a chronic illness and having a mini-stroke in December, I’ve really had to take a step back and reevaluate priorities. I have known for a long time now that I have always been a stressed individual, but until recently I haven’t taken it very seriously. So, my whole focus in MMXI is going to be on de-stressing.
MMXI:
Relax, Unwind, De-Stress, Be Peaceful, Be At Peace, Be Calm, and LOVE!
Here are some things I am going to do to make this a reality every single day of my life. This has to be a permanent change. This has to be a top priority. As a life extensionist, I have to take stress very very seriously. Diet is very important, but stress will still kill you!
1: YOGA! I have done Yoga every day since I started on December 18th! I absolutely love it. My body and my mind feel better! I plan on keeping Yoga a part of my life from now on. I’m not going to say I’ll do it every single day, because my life has ways of complicating things, but Yoga is around to stay!
2: GRATITUDE! As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I’m going to not only talk about food in my blog posts, but also talk about things I am grateful for in my life. I think this is a simple practice that everyone should make a habit of doing. As a stressed out person, I would focus too much of the negative, perceived negative, or possible negative, and I would forget all the GOOD things in my life.
3: CONFRONTATION: Now, this may seem like an odd thing to bring stress relief, but I often avoid confrontation in situations where I really need to say something. The plan always back fires because the problem doesn’t get addressed, and I spend my time stressing over not saying something. It would be better for me to deal with the IMMEDIATE stress of a confrontation rather than CHRONICALLY STEW over the matter.
4: THERAPY: Yes, I have decided to get a therapist to help me with stress relief. It’s really a good idea to be able to get an objective opinion on matters, and have someone to talk things out with. QB is wonderful at this, really, but I need someone outside my life. And, hey, my insurance will pay – which it should because this will reduce my long term health cost!
5: FUN! Sometimes I just forget to have fun. Stress does that. So, I’m going to make sure I try to have FUN every day. Even if it’s just for a little while.
6: LIVING WHAT I LOVE: I love healthy eating, CRON, researching nutrition, researching life extension, and then blogging all about it. So, I am going to continue all my current health food CR ways, but I’m just going to try to keep a pep in my step and a positive outlook! My blog is an outlet for me in many ways, so I am going to let my MMXI resolutions shine through in with what I write about, how I write, and always making sure I am loving it!
Oh, and to top it all off, this year is my 10 year high school reunion. WOW. Ten Years! It’s gone so slow, and so fast, and so wild, and so blah! LOL! But I like where I am in my life right now, and I wouldn’t change a thing!
