Hellooo Flexibility! Oh, Did You See The Eclipse?

Posted on 21 December 2010 by sie

I’m transitioning to night shift. Perfect timing for the total lunar eclipse which happened on the winter solstice! What a beautiful RARE occurrence! QB and I stepped outside at varying times during the eclipse. At the very peak (0317est), there was come cloud cover, but it was still magical. Since we live in a cabin in the woods, we didn’t have any light pollution to interfere. We still have snow on the ground, so that added to the experience. Before the eclipse, the full mood lit up everything and the snow. Very bright outside. During the eclipse, it gradually got darker and darker. Just before the peak, it was pitch black outside. We couldn’t see each other. Then the sky and clouds started to get red. All the clouds became very red and bright and we could see again, but with this red tint over everything. Almost spooky. Then the red started to subside, and the light started to fade again. We saw the moon during other transition states after the peak too.  Beautiful!

According to Michio Kaku’s blog post about the eclipse, the last time a total lunar eclipse occurred on the winter solstice was 450 years ago, and won’t happen again until 2401.

My yoga today brought a nice surprise. I found a considerable increase in flexibility on a few poses. Today’s sessions were different than yesterday’s. I’m only on day 4! I’m hooked. QB is turning into a convert too. After hearing me talk about my back and how good I was feeling, he asked to do a session with me later in the evening. So, we attempted to share my mat (it is fairly large) and he went though my current favorite workout since he also is having some back issues.

I’ve never been so excited over “working out”. I don’t really see yoga as working out though, but it really is. Besides stretching, there are all sorts of poses that work all your body muscles. And some routines focus more on arms, legs, or your core.Yoga doesn’t have to be complicated. I just bought a few magazines with routines in them (and other poses for different things), and a mat. I sit on my mat, and do what the instructions and pictures tell me to. It’s really easy to get started!

My food today was kept simple. Similar to my last few days. I’m not stressing over the little things. And I’m having fun taking pictures of my food. I really love taking  pictures. One day I’ll get a better camera. Until then, I’ll use what I have and play with photo shop to get the effect I want. Take a look at my favorite food pics of today!

Since I eat SO MANY carrots, I get to see all kinds of deformed ones. This one look like it split completely open on one side. The core is all twisted and narly looking. Very wild!

This is my lovely new favorite fresh juice. I whole pint of healthy goodness. Doesn't that look tasty! I couldn't help but take a picture!

I had way too much fun with photoshop with this pic. The mug and straw are both blue by the way. Hahaha. FUN!
