So, QB’s been sick for a week now. He’s just pulling out of it today. Understanding the significance of QB being sick requires some context. QB has not had a cold in 10 years, and he hasn’t had the flu since grade school. With his overactive immune system, when it’s not attacking his guts or joints, a common cold or even the case of the flu is like play time for his immune system. I’ve been sick twice since we’ve been together, over 103F fever each time, and he’s kissed on me and made no effort to stay away and the most he ever got was a sniffle for 1 day.
So, when he started getting sick last week, we thought between the immuno-suppressant drugs he’s been on and the lack of people exposure, maybe he picked up a cold. But then he got ran a light fever for about 3 days, and crazy drainage problems -but all clear mucous, but it never seemed bad enough to call the flu…..until we put his crazy heman immune system into context. Now….we are pretty sure it was more than a common cold.
And all this time, I’ve been feeling fine! Well….except today.
Just as QB starts to pull out of it, I wake up with thick sludge in the back of my throat. Oh crap. That was this morning. Despite my best efforts to take anti-histamines, extra Vit C, and even some real sudafed when I started getting stopped up after noon, I’ve been on the decline. Around 4pm, I think I started running a mild fever. When I got home, my temperature was 98.88 (I usually am around 97.5, so this is a fever for me..and oh do I feel it). Hrumph. Oh, and body aches, clogged runny sinuses, general fatigue, and just plain yuckiness. And if this is the flu, the ride has only just begun. GRR! I really hope I handle this as well as QB, but I don’t have an insane immune system….so…..you can take your bets on that one.
So, here I am, wondering how bad I will feel when I wake up tomorrow. I’m trying to fight this off as best as I can, but as I was joking with QB, I think my viral load reached its singularity point some time after 4pm. O_o
My appetite has been all out of whack today, and probably will be for a few days.
Today, most of my calories came from clementines. Yum. I have no idea what my eating patterns will be like over the next few days. But, I’ll put it up here for y’all to see…I tend to have weird appetite issues and strange cravings when I am sick. I tend to not eat a lot of what I call “real food” and definitely not a “real meal”. I often eat things like fruit and crackers, and maybe some light soup. So…we shall see. I’ve never documented a sickness before. I try to keep up with updates, even if it is nothing but I feel like crap and here is my food. Ha…
FWIW, I’m hitting the garlic soon, taking some extra zinc, keeping my Vit C and Vit D up, taking a multivitamin to compensate for some of my lack of proper food (I’ll report the nutrition w/out the multi b/c I don’t consider in the same league as proper food…but know that with it I came very close to hitting all my nutrition today FWIW), and will try to keep up with my juicing at the very least. My body tried hard to fight it off, and I almost got away with it. I’m sure my crazy sleep cycle doesn’t help my immune system. I did finally succumb on day shift when I tend to get the least amount of sleep.
Oh, and yes, all my weird food choices will be vegan. :-D :-p
