Mix the first two together, and I always get flash backs of my first semester organic chemistry lab. Actually, the cloves alone will do the trick, but add the crisp fall air and I am in seriously waxing some nostalgia. I hear a lot of people talk about how they despised organic chemistry, but I loved it. One of our first extractions we did was the extraction of clove oil directly from cloves. This lab took at least 3 weeks, so all during that time I smelled cloves for several hours, and went home smelling very strongly of cloves.
From now until eternity, cloves will forever remind me of the fall I took organic chemistry 101.
So, while I am eating my clovey oats, you have to understand that while I also have pumpkin pie fantasies, it is still a bit strange to be eating my lab work. :-p It doesn’t help that after the cloves, we moved on to nutmeg extractions. What a great class, and an excellent professor.
Speaking of spice, I tried my new Super Hot Thai Crushed Chilies today, and they are NOT joking! That is some hot stuff! :-D Yum. I don’t like having to add tons of pepper to make my food hot. It starts to affect the flavor too much. I am glad I preemptively bought several jars of it. Ha.
Since I am also back on days today, I changed up the order of my meals. Juice on the drive in, and I’ll eat some sorbet after I get home from work with a little mixing in between. Well, I was going to eat a sorbet when I got home. I got a little too happy with some cereal I had stuffed away at work, so no sorbet for me tonight. I considered it, but I just didn’t feel like it. Apparently my appetite was left at my work desk.
Even though I drove into work in the darkness, I still made the best of it by rolling down my window, turning up the heater on my feet, and blasting some good music while I drank my juice. Life is grand. The ride home was in similar fashion. It won’t be too long before the winds become too icy for this scenario to play out, so I better live it up while the weather is wonderful!
