The Nights of “NO”

Posted on 09 October 2010 by sie

While this may sound like I’ve been watching too much Monty Python, I promise I’m referring to my food intake – or lack there of. With my latest medication change, I have been able to get a grip on my food intake. I actually have control. I have my “NO” back. I’m no food dictator though, I still like to have my little pleasures (like my wegmans rolls here and there), but overall I have a sense of control for a little while almost completely disappeared.

I’m not sure how quickly the extra weight will come off, but with my eating under control it would imagine it will slowly start coming back down. My weight the past few mornings has been 130.5lbs. For a while I was scared to get on the scale, so while I didn’t think I topped 131lbs, I may have got up to 133lbs. It’s so frustrating to have meds and health issues influence my eating, but now that things seem to be under control everything should start to level out. With any chronic illness, most of the goal is try manage symptoms (and then manage symptoms of the medication….oh geez). As long as I stay on medication, I hopefully won’t get worse – some can become medication resistant though or need dosages to be changed, etc. There is no cure, only treatment. Even more of a reason to live a very very long time….maybe there WILL be a cure for my illness oneday. So now, QB and I both are two chronically ill people. What a cute couple we make. Ha. While that can make some things more difficult, it does allow us to have more understanding of each other even though we have different illnesses. :-p

On to my spice hunt….

I got some really hot Thai crushed pepper. I suspect this is hotter than my ground cayenne at the house. The ground fenugreek was a surprise find, and I have no idea what to do with the saffron flowers but they looked good too. The Soan Papdi is for a friend; it’s not CR friendly at all, but it is one of the best Indian treats I’ve eaten. I was telling her about it, so I pick some up for her because she told me she found some tea to give me later this week.

And now look at my asparagus I ate before my salad. YUM!!!

Pre-salad appetizer.
