Yesterday, QB and I went out with a friend and her guy to a favorite Thai restaurant of ours on a whim. We decided to get together since QB is driving down to MS today to finish some things on his house we will actually be renting it out in a week….Finally! But, back to the food.
I have a crazy tolerance for spice. Every time I go to a Thai restaurant, I tell them to spice it “Thai hot”. They never do. Last time I went to this place, they spiced it fairly hot, but not hot enough since they really didn’t believe me. This time, when I told them I wanted it hot, they complied (since they remembered me, and I was very persistant….Lol).
QB and I started with a small order of Thai veggie dumplings, then we both ordered the red curry with tofu. The only difference was our spice levels. Take a look at some pics.
Not only did I eat my meal without rice, but I never broke a sweat or sniffled once. I didn’t even drink a whole glass of water. LOL! My curry was definitely hotter than the last visit, but I wasn’t entirely convinced they really “gave it to me” so I asked them how hot it was, and what to ask for if I wanted it this hot again. This was my ideal hot. It was enjoyable, and I didn’t have problems eating it.
Both the waiter and the cook (this was a family restaurant) told me this was the hottest they make, they wouldn’t have any problems remembering me, and they should put my picture by the door. HAHAHA. Their faces were priceless! They were very surprised I ate the whole dish without having any problems at all. They laughed and said I wouldn’t have any problems eating in Thailand.
So, I was amused. I thought I had I high tolerance for spice, but this really confirms it for me.
