If you are an Earl Grey Tea fan, this cocoa may be just the thing for you. Last weekend QB and I had a friend visiting, and as we were winding down for the evening near the wood stove, I decided to make some cocoa. He piped up and said we should try our cocoa with Earl Grey steeped in it, and promised it was tasty. I was hesitant at first, but I’m always up for new ideas and decided it was time to expand my cocoa horizons. I like to drink Earl Grey Green tea, which has a milder taste than the black tea, so keep that in mind if you want to replicate this recipe.
Paleo Cocoa with Earl Grey Green Tea (serves 3)
3C Almond Milk, Unsweetened
1.5C Coconut Milk Beverage, Unsweetened
4-5T Cocoa
Stevia to taste
I bag Earl Grey Green Tea
This makes a rich tasting cocoa that won’t break the calorie bank (each serving is ~80cal). Combine “milks” in a pot with the tea bag and heat on stove until liquid stats to steam. Mix cocoa and stevia, and bring mixture almost to a boil. Divide and drink. QB wasn’t as fond of the Earl Grey addition as I was, even though he likes to drink the tea. I , obviously, thought this was awesome, and have already made it a few more times.
