Spicy Sprouted Pumpkin & Sunflower Seeds

After buying a bag of GoRaw spicy spouted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, I wanted to recreate them at home because I can’t afford $12/lb on a regular basis. The great thing about raw foods is the simplicity of the recipes. The ingredient list was 7 items. My first batch got done this afternoon, and all I can say is “wow”. The similarity is amazing, almost identical. There is one flavor dimension that seems to be missing, but it does not affect the yumminess one bit.

Spicy Sprouted Pumpkin & Sunflower Seeds

220g Pumpkin seeds, raw & hulled
110g Sunflower seeds, raw & hulled
2 Jalapeno Peppers, tops cut off, chopped in large chunks
2T Cilantro, chopped
3T Lime Juice, water
1/2-1t Chili Powder, salt

Soak pumpkin and sunflower seeds in water (1:2 seed:water) for 2-4 hours. I think I soaked mine about 3 hours, but I am horrible at keeping track of such things. After soaking, pour off all water and place in a large jar. I then covered the jar with a paper towel, and put a rubber band around the paper towel to hold it in place. Allow seeds to spout for 24 hrs. You will probably notice the sunflower seeds growing a tail, but from what I understand, it is rare to see the pumpkin tails.

Dump sprouted seeds into a mixing bowl. In the blender, combine all other ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour over seeds and mix well. Spread on dehydrator sheets, and dehydrate at ~105F for 24 hours. Eat.  :-)
