CR Hot Cocoa Drink (60cals)

Posted on 07 November 2009 by sie

I have taken to a habit of starting my day with a big cup of my own hot cocoa type of drink. I like it because it’s hot, chocolaty, large (~2.5cups), and only 60 calories. I have this big pottery mug my father made (yes, he’s a potter), and seem to find I enjoy my food/drinks more when I use neat or unique dishes. Does anyone else do this or am I just weird? I have ad odd assortment of strange dishes and neat utensils I have collected from all sorts of places. They just make eating more fun, but I do tend to let my artistic side blur into all parts of my life. I just can’t help it, eccentricity is fun.

CR Hot Cocoa Drink (serves 1 or 2 “normal” cups)

1C Almond Milk, Unsweetened
1.5C Water
~8g (1 slightly heaping T) Cocoa Powder
1/2T Decaf Instant Coffee
~1g (1/2t) Cinnamon
1.5t Stevia (or other sweetner)

I basically just combine everything into a small pot on the stove, bring the mix to a boil, then pour in my cup. I have noticed I need to stir my drink if I take a while to drink it because the cocoa seems to settle sometimes (I think it is brand related since all brands don’t seem to do this).

I would like to hear about other low calorie hot beverages! I haven’t really spent much time looking, but a lot of recipes like this tend to be very individual.
